Masters of Science in Secure Computing

A unique opportunity for a unique time:

The Security & Privacy in Informatics, Computing and Engineering (SPICE) Center recognizes that the effects of COVID on the economic landscape have left many of IU students with limited opportunities for the short term future.  We want to support IU students who are interested in expanding their capabilities and employment opportunities by earning a Masters of Science in Secure Computing (MSSC).  Additionally, in recognition of the financial and organizational stresses that some of our traditional application requirements present in these COVID times, we are changing our requirements for the 2020-2021 academic year.

Secure Programming Track Explanation Image

The Master of Science in Secure Computing takes a highly multifaceted approach to cybersecurity. In this two-year program, you will become adept at many aspects of cybersecurity in one of three tracks.

The data science track leverages the wealth of computer security data including developing analytical approaches when you have an active, malicious opponent.

The human-centered track focuses on human computer interaction, social engineering, security awareness, and privacy. This science of security track provides literacy in all dimensions of computer security. When you graduate, you will be ready to confront and defeat social engineers.

The secure programming track focuses on secure coding, offering mastery of networking, access control, cryptography, and forensics. When you graduate, you will be ready to use the latest tools for identifying and mitigating threats—and you will be ready to design innovative tools of your own.

Our offer:

In support of IU students, SPICE is offering to pre-review all applicants for our MSSC program by holding open admissions applications for Fall 2020 until August 15th, waiving applications fees, dropping the requirement for a GRE, and providing a streamlined pre-application interview to assist new applicants.
